In November 2019, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum were declared free from marriage in court. They were together from 2006 to 2018, getting married in July 2011.
As is often the case with people who have something to share, a legal divorce does not mean anything. This is where a completely different story begins – and, as a rule, it is not quick and easy.
The former spouses had to deal with the custody of their daughter Everly, born in May 2013, and also divide all their joint property. If with the first everything was simple, and the court gave both parties equal rights in raising the girl, then with everything else there were difficulties.
Back in February 2020, Jenna married Broadway musical star Steve Kazee, and in March of that year they welcomed their first child together, Calum, who is now four. In January 2024, Dewan and Kazi announced that they were expecting a second child… At the same time, they failed to part with Tatum forever.
In April 2024, Jenna Dewan, as People learned, began a large-scale lawsuit against her ex-husband, accusing him of nothing less than concealing income, which Jenna, as she believes, has every right to claim.
“She received millions of dollars after their divorce,” an insider commented on the news to Us Weekly. “However, few people realize how much is at stake.”
Dewan, 43, claimed rights to exactly half of the proceeds from the Magic Mike franchise. Released in 2012, the film directed by Steven Soderbergh, with a modest budget of $7 million, grossed a phenomenal $167 million. This prompted the creators to make several more films, and then launch live shows of the same name with dancers around the world and film the reality series “Finding Magic Mike.”
What started out in Channing and Dewan’s marriage continued well after their 2018 split. However, Devan’s demands are supported by facts: it was she who introduced her husband at that time to the choreographers who staged all the numbers, first in films, and then for shows.
“She is convinced that the success of the franchise would not be possible without her participation, and wants to fairly share the proceeds,” say representatives of the pregnant Dewan.
At the same time, according to insiders, Tatum transferred the rights to the franchise to a third party, and the income goes to a closed trust and cannot be tracked.
Lawyers for 43-year-old Tatum, meanwhile, insist that the actor, who serves as the producer of the franchise, made a lot of adjustments to the productions and made a huge contribution to their creation, which made them so commercially successful.
There is another, alternative view of this severe battle. Some sources believe that the actress, who, as she herself assures, is happy in her new marriage, watches with a heavy heart not only financial prosperity, but also the stormy romance of her ex with 35-year-old Zoe Kravitz.
As you know, at the end of 2023, Channing proposed to Lenny Kravitz’s daughter, although shortly before that he admitted that he was traumatized by the experience of marriage and did not intend to repeat it. However, according to those close to the couple, they are both literally bewitched by each other, and this magic does not leave them even on the set.
Let us remember that Zoe wanted to make a film with Tatum in the title role as her directorial debut.
Strong feelings forced the actor to change his mind about remarrying, especially since he dreams of becoming a father more than once. Zoe stated in an interview that she does not yet see herself as a mother. She may have already changed her mind, but at present they cannot even approximately plan a wedding date. Until Channing resolves his differences with Dewan, he definitely has no time for a new prenuptial agreement.
