Chris Brown recounts moment he punched Rihanna in the face with a “closed fist” as she spat blood
In news that’ll be sure to make your blood boil, convicted domestic abuser Chris Brown has spoken about the infamous 2009 incident which saw him repeatedly punch his then-girlfriend Rihanna during a fight after the Grammy Awards.
In what seems like a thinly-veiled ploy to drum up interest in upcoming documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life, he recounts the moment he punched Rihanna with a “closed fist” during the fight.
Brown served five years’ probation and a community service order for the assault.
Shocking injury pictures of Rihanna.
He says it started because he lied about sleeping with another woman and their relationship turned volatile.
“I tried everything, she didn’t care. She just didn’t trust me after that. From there, it just went downhill because there were too many verbal fights, physical fights as well. Mutual sides. … We would fight each other. She would hit me, I would hit her and it never was okay.”
Speaking of the night of the attack, Brown says it started because the former flame was at the same party as them and as they drove home, he received a text message from her.
“She[Rihanna] starts going off, she throws the phone,” he says. “‘I hate you.’ Starts hitting me. We’re in a little Lamborghini. She’s fighting me. I’m like, ‘Look, I’m telling you the truth, I swear.’ …
“She hits me a couple of more times and it doesn’t go from translation to, ‘Let’s sit down, I’m telling you the truth.’ It goes to, ‘Now, I’m going to be mean, be evil.’ I remember she tried to kick me, but then I really hit her, with a closed fist, I punched her. I busted her lip. When I saw it, I was in shock. I was like, ‘F–k, why the hell did I hit her?’
“So from there she’s … spitting blood in my face, it raised me even more. It’s a real fight in the car, and we driving in the street.”
He then describes how the fight continued and he bit her. Brown says he wasn’t aware of the full weight of what he’d done until he saw the pictures of Rihanna’s battered face.
He says that he felt like a “f–king monster” for what he had done.
“I look back at that picture and I’m like, ‘That’s not me, bro,’” he says. “I hate it to this day. That’s going to haunt me forever.”
As it should.
Brown has repeatedly said he should be allowed to forget the incident and move on with his life.
Indeed, when he was refused an Australia visa, he said he should be allowed to be an advocate of domestic violence (REALLY).
Brown said he would be “grateful” to come to Australia to “raise awareness about domestic violence.”
He added that his “life mistakes should be a wake-up call for everyone.”
However, shocking allegations have plagued the singer long after he attacked Rihanna in 2009.
His ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran filed a restraining order against him in February claiming he had been physically violent and threatened to kill her.
In a sworn statement revealed by TMZ Karrueche says Chris “told a few people that he was going to kill me.”
She also says Chris vowed to “take me out,” and “threatened to shoot me,” telling friends that if he couldn’t have the 28-year-old model, nobody could.
Karrueche claims Chris also ‘punched me in my stomach twice’ and ‘pushed me down the stairs,’ a few years ago, while he was still on probation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
In 2016, model Liziane Gutierrez also claimed that she was punched by Chris in the face at a Las Vegas party, although charges were never laid for the alleged assault.
Oh, and there was also that whole ‘police stand-off’ debacle where he holed himself up over an alleged firearm offence.
We’re not sure the ‘reformed character’ shoe fits you, Chris.
